I’ve put together a collection of tutorials, books, articles and videos for ExpressionEngine newbies and novices. Smashing Magazine had a similar collection but it is now pretty dated being from 2008. I tried to find as many free examples as I could but ultimately I went with the resources I felt were the best, paid or otherwise. So this list will have some paid stuff but you can learn ExpressionEngine for free if you so choose.
It is a great feeling when you finally get that ExpressionEngine site live. You set up Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools, and submit your Sitemap. I will go over how to set up your templates so your HTML Suggestions start and stay empty, as in unique Meta Descriptions and Title tags for every single pages on your site.
Uploading and displaying images in your entries is an essential part of any content management system. With ExpressionEngine 2.2.2 (I think) new tags were created to allow for easy resizing and cropping of images. In this post I'll go over how to set up your File Upload Directories, create new re-sized images for use in your templates as well as the markup to display the resized images in your templates.
ExpressionEngine is my CMS of choice. I could use Wordpress or another blogging platforms when I need to create a blog but I'd rather use what I know. That and I can turn a blog built with ExpressionEngine into a much larger site with ease if need be. So here is a list of accessories, plugins, modules, field types and extensions that make blogging with ExpressionEngine easier to do.
